Installation & Setup
Get started with ZeroTrace BLELogger in just three simple steps: Prepare → Flash → Connect.
1. Preparation
You'll Need:
- ZeroTrace BLELogger
- USB-C data cable
- USB keyboard to monitor
- Computer or mobile device with Bluetooth
- Chrome or Edge browser (recommended)
- Internet connection
2. Port Guide
ZeroTrace BLELogger has two USB ports, each with a distinct purpose.

💡 Tip: Use COM for updates and configuration.
Plug the USB port into the keyboard you want to bridge and monitor.
3. Flash Firmware
- Connect ZeroTrace BLELogger to your computer via the COM port using a USB-C data cable.
- Open the ZeroTrace Web Flasher in Chrome or Edge.
- Click Connect, select your device, then choose Flash Firmware.
- Wait about 2 minutes for the process to finish.
- Unplug and restart the device once flashing is complete.
Linux only
If you see the error below:
Failed to execute 'open' on 'SerialPort'Run the following command:
sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USERFor Arch-based distros, use:
sudo usermod -a -G uucp <user>Log out and back in before retrying.
4. Connect BLELogger
Step A: Connect Keyboard
- Plug the USB keyboard into the USB port of the BLELogger.
- Power the BLELogger using the COM port or an external power source.
- The device will automatically detect and calibrate the keyboard.
🔌 The keyboard is now bridged through BLELogger and ready for BLE output.
Step B: Pair via Bluetooth
- On your computer or mobile device, open Bluetooth settings.
- Search for a device named like the plugged-in keyboard (e.g., "Logitech K120").
- Pair and connect. No PIN is required.
- The host will recognize it as a standard Bluetooth keyboard.
⌨️ Connected! Keystrokes from the USB keyboard are now transmitted via BLE. (needs calibration for to work correctly)
5. Web Dashboard Access

Steps:
- Power on the BLELogger.
- Connect to the WiFi network ending with
ZT. - Open
http://192.168.4.1in your browser.
From here you can:
- View live keystrokes
- Configure keyword and regex detection
- Manage calibration profiles
- Update firmware
6. Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Keyboard not detected | Try another USB keyboard or cable |
| BLE not pairing | Restart device and Bluetooth |
| Wrong characters | Run keyboard calibration |
| Web UI unreachable | Verify WiFi and IP address |
| Flash fails | Use a reliable USB cable and stable power |
