Installation and Setup
Get started with ZeroTrace in three simple steps: Prepare, Flash, and Connect.
1. Preparation
What you need
- ZeroTrace device
- USB-C data cable
- Computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
- Chrome or Edge browser (recommended)
- Active internet connection
2. Port Guide
ZeroTrace includes two USB ports, each with a specific purpose.

Tip
Use the COM port for device maintenance and firmware updates.
Use the USB port for HID payload execution.
3. Flash the Firmware
- Connect ZeroTrace to your computer using the COM port and a USB-C data cable.
- Open the ZeroTrace Web Flasher in Chrome or Edge.
- Click Connect, select your device, then choose Flash Firmware.
- Wait about two minutes for the process to complete.
- Unplug the device and power it on again.
Linux only
If you see the error below:
Failed to execute 'open' on 'SerialPort'Run the following command:
sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USERFor Arch-based distros, use:
sudo usermod -a -G uucp <user>Log out and back in before retrying.
4. Connect to ZeroTrace
Default network details

Connection steps
- Power on ZeroTrace.
- Connect to the WiFi network ending in
ZT. - Open
http://192.168.4.1in your browser.
You are connected
You can now configure settings and launch payloads from the web dashboard.
5. Troubleshooting
| Issue | Recommended fix |
|---|---|
| Device not detected | Try a different USB-C data cable |
| WiFi not visible | Wait two to three minutes and check for WiFi conflicts |
| Flashing fails | Ensure stable power and use a reliable cable |
| Timeout or error | Restart the device and verify the IP address |
For persistent WiFi issues, perform a factory reset.

ZeroTraceโs RGB LED shows device status:
