Installation and Setup

Get started with ZeroTrace in three simple steps: Prepare, Flash, and Connect.


1. Preparation

What you need

  • ZeroTrace device
  • USB-C data cable
  • Computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
  • Chrome or Edge browser (recommended)
  • Active internet connection

2. Port Guide

ZeroTrace includes two USB ports, each with a specific purpose.

Tip
Use the COM port for device maintenance and firmware updates.
Use the USB port for HID payload execution.


3. Flash the Firmware

  1. Connect ZeroTrace to your computer using the COM port and a USB-C data cable.
  2. Open the ZeroTrace Web Flasher in Chrome or Edge.
  3. Click Connect, select your device, then choose Flash Firmware.
  4. Wait about two minutes for the process to complete.
  5. Unplug the device and power it on again.

Linux only

If you see the error below:

Failed to execute 'open' on 'SerialPort'

Run the following command:

sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USER

For Arch-based distros, use:

sudo usermod -a -G uucp <user>

Log out and back in before retrying.


4. Connect to ZeroTrace

Connection steps

  1. Power on ZeroTrace.
  2. Connect to the WiFi network ending in ZT.
  3. Open http://192.168.4.1 in your browser.

You can now configure settings and launch payloads from the web dashboard.


5. Troubleshooting

For persistent WiFi issues, perform a factory reset.
